Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B. La’ori represents the Demsa/Numan/Lamurde Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. With nearly 30 years of distinguished legal practice as an Attorney at Law in Nigeria, he is a highly respected figure in both legal and legislative circles.
As a seasoned legislator with over a decade of remarkable service, Rt. Hon. La’ori has made significant contributions to lawmaking at both the state and national levels. He pioneered the establishment of a functional Constituency Office and conducts annual town hall meetings to present his accomplishments and gather feedback from constituents.
His legislative career began in 2007 when he was elected to the Adamawa State House of Assembly, serving two consecutive terms until 2015. During this time, he held several leadership positions, including Chief Whip, Deputy Majority Leader, Deputy Speaker, and Speaker, demonstrating exceptional leadership qualities.
In 2015, he was elected to the House of Representatives as part of the 8th National Assembly, where he chaired the House Committee on FCT Judiciary and participated in various other committees. After being re-elected in 2019 and 2023, he currently chairs the Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa.
As a legislator, Rt. Hon. Kwamoti B. Laori has remain passionate to advocacy for universal quality health care delivery for all Nigerians; has built and equipped Maternity and Health Care Facilities in his constituency as well sponsored a Bill for the regulation of Assisted Reproductive Health Technologies in Nigeria.
Beyond legislative duties, Rt. Hon. La’ori has initiated numerous training programs, empowerment projects, and infrastructure developments throughout his constituency, impacting over 90% of the 30 wards in less than three years. His outstanding contributions to national development earned him the title of “Agent of Transformation” from the Nigerian Online Journalists in March 2021.
An alumnus of Modibbo Adama University of Technology, University of Jos, and the International Security Organization in Switzerland, Rt. Hon. La’ori actively participates in various trade and non-governmental organizations, including the Nigerian Red Cross Society, the Nigerian Bar Association and the Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria.
As a dedicated member of PPFN, Rt. Hon. Laori had in recent time served as State Secretary, Regional Chair and currently Member of the National Executive Committee where he continue to uphold the core values of integrity, innovation and competence in leadership.
History was made on 13th December, 2024 when the National Council of PPFN in its 57th Meeting overwhelmingly elected him as the 11th President of PPFN.
President La’ori has over the years supported the empowerment of people living with HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B; issues related to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Nigeria, supported persons internally displaced by natural disaster among other philanthropic services which cumulatively aligned with the vision of PPFN as an organization.
Known as the “Advocate of the Poor and Vulnerable,” he provides pro bono legal services and scholarships for children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as supporting their medical needs.
To his credit, Rt. Hon. La’ori has received numerous awards and holds several traditional titles. He is married to Dr. Celine K. La’ori and is a devoted father to biological and foster children. His interests include reading, sports, travel, and community service, reflecting his commitment to improving the lives of those in need in accordance with his Christian faith.
