Abiodun Ajayi is an accomplished development strategist, public health advocate, and communications professional with a strong record of driving youth empowerment, governance reform, and policy advocacy in Nigeria. Over the last decade, he has established himself as a transformative leader in youth mobilization, civic engagement, and sustainable development, leveraging his expertise to influence policies, build partnerships, and deliver impactful programs.

Ajayi possesses a robust academic and professional background in Mass Communication, complemented by certifications from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and in Project Management in Global Health from the University of Washington. His unique ability to blend strategic communication with grassroots advocacy has positioned him as a key voice in advancing health equity, reproductive health, and youth development.

He currently serves as the Lagos State Advocacy Coordinator for the Centre for Communication and Social Impact (CCSI) on the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation–funded Advancing Health Equity Through Strategic Advocacy Project, implemented in Lagos by EngenderHealth. In this role, he provides technical leadership on advocacy and accountability, influencing maternal and newborn health policies and funding to improve health outcomes for women and communities.

Ajayi is also the Executive Director of the Public Health Sustainable Advocacy Initiative (PHSAI), where he leads strategic interventions that shape reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health (RMNCAH) policies at both state and national levels. His work has been instrumental in the Review of the Lagos State Youth Policy, the development of the Lagos State 10-Point Youth Agenda, the Adolescent and Youth Health Framework, and the Co-Creation Policy on Family Planning Funding.

His longstanding engagement with the Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN) began in 2008 when he was elected Southwest Regional Youth Action Movement (YAM) Coordinator, revitalizing youth networks across six states and initiating the Youth With Future Club, a school outreach program that received global recognition from the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). Transitioning into adult volunteer leadership, he served as Secretary and later Acting State Chairman, contributing significantly to strengthening governance structures and the emergence of new leadership in Lagos State.

Ajayi’s influence extends into governance and institutional frameworks. He serves as a member of several high-level technical platforms, including:

  • Adolescent and Youth Health Technical Working Group (TWG)
  • Review of Lagos State Youth Policy TWG
  • ILERA Eko Enforcement Technical Team
  • Enforcement Technical Team of the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA)

He is also the Immediate Past Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), where he championed youth inclusion in governance, amplified young voices in policymaking, and strengthened state–youth relations.
