As part of our mission to expand access to SRHR and strengthen our organizational impact, we are inviting applications from passionate and qualified professionals for:

POSITION: DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMMES

LOCATION: NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS, ABUJA, NIGERIA

Job Type: Three (3) years fixed-term contract, renewable based on performance and organizational needs
Remuneration: Attractive and commensurate with experience in line with PPFN salary scale

Your Role:

    • Provide technical oversight and guidance on SRHR interventions, family planning services, adolescent and youth programming, gender issues, and rights-based approaches.
    • Strengthen programme monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning systems to ensure evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement.
    • Lead programme planning processes, annual work plans, and performance reviews.
    • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with government agencies, donors, development partners, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders.
    • Support resource mobilization efforts, including proposal development, donor engagement, and grant acquisition initiatives.
    • Monitor programme budgets and ensure efficient use of financial and human resources.
    • Supervise and mentor programme managers and technical staff to build high-performing teams and strengthen institutional capacity.
    • Represent PPFN in national and international meetings, technical working groups, conferences, and policy discussions.
    • Ensure programmes comply with safeguarding policies, donor regulations, and organizational standards.

 

What You Bring:

    • Proven experience in programme management, preferably within an NGO, development, or donor-funded environment.
    • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing large-scale public health, SRHR, or family planning programmes.
    • Strong knowledge of programme design, implementation, and outcome review.
    • Proven experience in strategic planning, partnership development, and stakeholder management.
    • Strong understanding of donor-funded programmes and donor compliance requirements.
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
    • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with experience using data to improve programme outcomes.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
    • Strong commitment to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights and promoting equitable access to quality health services.

 

Requirements:

    • A Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Development Studies, Social Sciences or a related discipline is strongly preferred.
    • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive work experience in programme management, including at least 5 years in a senior management or leadership role within an NGO, development organization, or donor-funded environment.
    • Proven experience managing SRHR, family planning, maternal health, adolescent health, or related health programmes.
    • Strong experience working with international donors, development agencies, and grant-funded projects.
    • Experience in programme budgeting, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting systems.
    • Strong knowledge of national health policies, donor compliance requirements, and public health systems in Nigeria.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple programmes and teams across diverse geographic locations.
    • High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to organizational values and mission.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and programme management tools.
